The local guide will accompany you to the old Medina, Koutoubia mosque overlooking the famous Jamaa El Fna square. The visit will also include visiting El Badii palace, located in the heart of the Medina displaying a mix of Moorish and Islamic artchetecture. You’ll end up your visit by strolling in the Jamaa El Fna square which turns into an open theatre of folk arts, and different acrobatic and Gnaoua performers. In the evening, the square becomes an open restaurant for barbecue and local Moroccan food.

The journey involves a number of stops over the High Atlas mountains (approximately 3000 m high) which provide picturesque views of Berber villages and fortresses. Before arriving Ouarzazate, you’ll have a short tour in the most famous Kasbah “Ait Ben Haddou”, a UNESCO heritage site and a background for tens of award winning Hollywood movies including gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones and Game of Thrones. After lunch near the Kasbah, you’ll continue to Ouarzazate which also prides itself for the cinema industry, thanks to the cinema studios that attract movie makers worldwide. You’ll visit one these studios to explore the stands of prominent movies like the Physician, Cleopatra and Pope Jouan. After visiting the studio, we’ll move to the downtown for photos of Kasbah Taourirte, which also hosts local and some Arab movies. Check into the hotel.

We continue along the valley and Kasbahs for over 20 Kms till Boumaln Dades, and from then till Tinghir and the magical Todgha gorges, where we’ll stop for a hike down the 200ms long cliffs and next to the fresh streams. After lunch, we drive on and pass by several Arabo- Berber towns like Tinjdad, Erfoud and Rissani before we arrive in Merzouga, close to the great Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Diner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 5: Merzouga - Zagora ( camel ride, night in the camp )

After breakfast, we leave Merzouga to the other desert town of Zagora. The drive will be mostly run across the “black desert” since the area is rich of minerals which in the effect of dead volcanoes, the mountains produced black-to- grey stones spread all over the terrain. You’ll enjoy not only the spectacular Anti-Atlas and flat desert, but also the Draa valley, containing palm groves stretched along the dry Draa River. The valley is regarded the living source for villages, nomads and towns like Tazarine and N-kob. After lunch, we continue to Zagora desert, where the camels will be waiting for you for the camel trekking. The ride on camels will take about 45 minutes to the camp. Upon your arrival, you’ll be met with tea before you check into your night’s accommodation – Berber tents. Diner and local folk music will be performed around the bonfire, and under the bright stars!

You will visit theMedrassa which keeps scientific manuscripts from the Middle centuries, after that you will visit a workshop of local pottery. We leave tamegroute to draa valley for a unique adventure on donkeys. The donkeys ride takes you inside the palm groves and remote villages with which the valley is a source of income.
